Hi I'm Steven from Growing Crazy for Pelargoniums and I am excited to have been asked to do a guest video blog for Keder Greenhouse through the seasons to explain why we have been fans of their growing spaces for such a long time.

Here is the first instalment which explains a little as to why we are such fans of their greenhouses and what we hope to be exploring through this blog.

Growing Crazy Guest Blog/Vlog for Keder Greenhouse - Episode 1

Cathy, Sales and Marketing Manager at Keder Greenhouse stated

"We’re delighted to welcome Steven from Growing Crazy as a guest blogger here at Keder Greenhouse. Steven is an award-winning specialist grower of Pelargoniums, with a passion for plants and a flair for creative displays who, in addition to recent gold medal wins at Blenheim Palace Flower Show and BBC Gardeners World Live, has also appeared on BBC Gardeners’ World.
Over the coming months, he’ll be sharing insights from both the Keder HQ greenhouses and his own growing spaces - showing how our greenhouses perform across the seasons, why they’re a perfect match for his Pelargonium nursery, Growing Crazy, and for a wide variety of crops. This first blog kicks off the journey, exploring why Steven thinks a Keder Greenhouse makes the ultimate growing environment."

Why Keder Greenhouses Are a Game-Changer for Pelargoniums and Beyond

Through the years I have tried all sorts of growing environments: traditional greenhouses,

polytunnels, and even temporary setups. But nothing has matched the consistent results we’ve had with Keder Greenhouses. This month, we’re excited to be kicking off with a guest vlog series for Keder, filmed at their HQ near Evesham.

Over the next few months, we’ll share behind-the-scenes looks at how we use Keder Greenhouses for pelargoniums and explore their versatility for growing everything a wide range of things from fruit, veg, herbs and, of course, Pelargoniums! In this first instalment, we start with why the growing conditions in a Keder are so exceptional.

The Light Advantage

Step into a Keder Greenhouse and you immediately notice the light. Even on grey, stormy days (the tail-end of Storm Floris, in our case), the inside feels bright and welcoming. The unique material doesn’t just let light in - it diffuses it evenly across the growing space.

That means:

  • Fewer shadows and hot spots - plants don’t compete for prime positions.

  • Reduced scorching - even sensitive plants, like our show Zonal pelargoniums, can produce full, double blooms without the risk of scorching.

  • Better overwintering conditions - light reaches into every corner, even under the benches! Last year, we overwintered some Stella pelargoniums under a bench. Come spring, they became some of the most productive plants in the greenhouse - proof that the light dispersion really does reach everywhere.

Built for All Seasons

Keder Greenhouses aren’t just summer workhorses. They’re equally good in the cold, damp, and grey months when plant growth can slow down. The diffused light keeps plants happier and healthier, while the insulation of the Keder helps maintain a more stable internal climate. For pelargonium growers, this is gold dust - especially for preventing problems like botrytis during the inevitable grey damp spells here in the UK.

Ventilation That Works

We take a look at the ventilation features of Keder Greenhouses looking at the automatic on how they open and close based on temperature, creating a natural airflow that keeps humidity and temperature in check.

Good airflow:

  • Prevents disease like botrytis

  • Reduces damp-off in seedlings

  • Improves plant strength overall

More Than Just Pelargoniums

While our passion is Pelargoniums, Keder Greenhouses are brilliant for a variety of crops. At HQ, we saw tomatoes, herbs (including Vietnamese coriander), citrus trees, and even arum lilies thriving side by side. Over the coming months, we’ll experiment with raised beds and seasonal crops to show how a Keder can be productive all year round - whatever you grow.

Follow the Journey

This is just the start of our guest vlog series for Keder. We’ll be sharing updates here, on social media, and in future blogs as we put these greenhouses through their paces in every season.
