The Keder Greenhouses team has been building commercial greenhouses for more than twenty years. Based in the fertile Vale of Evesham, and surrounded by fields of fresh produce, Colin Moore as a grower himself, understands the need to nurture and protect his crops from the elements, while extending the growing season. Passionate about growing his own vegetables and salads crops, Colin is constantly looking to develop the Kederhouse system, adding automatic ventilation, roof options, and staging.
This plastic air bubble sandwich material has been specifically developed to combine high light transparency with good heat insulation. Available in 2 metre widths, with a welded weather seal, it is versatile and strong, withstanding high winds and heavy snow falls.
The unique design produces a considerable scattering of light, (up to 83%) , allowing the growing area to be evenly lit, without shadows, so plant exposure to direct radiation is reduced. The layer of sealed air in the Keder sheeting provides a high level of insulation and heat retention, allowing for longer growing seasons. Keder material is guaranteed for 10 years, and most Kederhouses in the UK are still in regular use after more than 20 years.
All Kederhouses are built using only ZN35 pre-galvanised Weld repaired steel tube in 31.75 mm, 44.45 mm and 50.80 mm diameters. This type of material is a construction grade which means that it is almost twice as strong when compared to standard steel tube and its MINIMUM typical mechanical values against normal material (in brackets) are as follows:-
ZN35 Minimum Yield Strength 350 N/mm2 (normal steel Minimum 200 N/mm2)
ZN35 Minimum Tensile Strength 450 N/mm2 Minimum (normal steel Minimum 300N/mm2)
This material is used right through the range from the smallest Gardener size of 2 metres x 2 metres right up to those for Professional Growers in excess of 1 acre. There is No Compromise on Quality. Furthermore all steel framework is galvanised inside as well as outside and the weld line is repaired using molten zinc. It is important to understand that all vessels whether they are tin cans or ocean going ships are prone to rust from the inside out, which is why we insist on the bore of our tube being fully protected as well as the outside surfaces.
All of our Steel Tube is sourced from UK manufacturers and made to the Industry Standards and every batch has full traceability. Wide Pre-Galvanised gutters (for 4 metre widths and above) not only provide easy maintenance but in conjunction with cross bracing and intermediate stanchions on the larger structures deliver outstanding strength. Due to the Modular design, Kederhouses are flexible and can be easily extended in length (in two metre increments) if required.
Many customers order the 2 and 3 metre Kederhouses in kit form and follow the detailed assembly manual with great success. For larger projects, the Kederhouse team of experienced fitters will construct your building for you. From the Falkland Islands and remote Hebridean crofts to the Home Counties and the Spanish hills, Kederhouses have been built with care to last.
